Facebook Removing App Profile Pages

On Friday, Dec 9, 2011, Facebook announced that as of February 1, 2012 they are removing App Profile Pages, to be replaced by a much easier method of adding apps to pages.

If you own or have developed any Facebook applications, you should be aware of this change.

Normally, this would not be a huge deal, but since Application Profile pages are the standard way for users to add applications to pages they administer, please be aware that until Facebook provides a way for visitors and Facebook users to add applications to a page, you will have to provide and alternative method.

Instead of setting up a special App Profile Page, you can now embed an "Add App"  on your Facebook Fanpage or on your website.

Here's an example of a link that will add an app to Facebook.....

http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=<APP_ID>;&next=https://www.facebook.com/

For the next parameter you could also you the Application URL, but be cautioned that the URL must either be a Facebook URL (e.g. facebook.com) or the URL to the website that owns the application.  Using another URL will cause you to get an error from Facebook when the link is clicked on.
